Group Lessons and Events
Visit our Square Store to pay online (and register at the same time) for classes and private lessons.
The lesson listing is updated about once a month, unless something unexpected happens. If you see less than a week's worth of several types of events, an update should be on its way.
Our typical schedule includes Friday Beginner Workshops, Line Dancing on 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, What's Next Classes and Workshops (not for beginners) on Mondays, and (seasonally) 4-Hour Group Classes on various week nights.

Exercises to Improve Balance
Technique What's Next Workshop
Monday, November 3, 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
This exercise class is specifically geared towards improving your balance while dancing. Of course, that also means improving your balance while standing and walking, which really can't be a bad thing. You will sweat; you may be sore; you will probably complain (we all do); but we keep coming back for more.
Location: Sapphire Studio (downtown Christiansburg) and online
Price: $14/person in-studio or $9/person online.

Registration by noon the day of the event required. We will accommodate late registrations when we can.
Prerequisite: No prerequisites in dance ability or fitness level - you just need to be willing to put the work into improving yourself as a dancer.

Gobble-Gobble Afternoon Social
Free for Beginners! (because we like you) Fox Trot and so much more
Afternoon Social
Saturday, November 8, 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
The holiday season is closing in. Soon enough you're going to be focusing on trips, feasts, and presents. Before the crazy starts, come enjoy an casual afternoon of fun and dancing.
We’ll be starting the afternoon with a short Foxtrot lesson. This dance is great for beginners and still exciting for advanced dancers.
Will there be a mixer mid-dance? Oh yeah. Fox Trot mixes really well - how could we not? No experience or partner necessary – just bring your enthusiasm and your dancing shoes!
So plan now to join fellow dancers, young, old, experienced, and shiny new for an afternoon of good food, nice people, great music, and incredible dancing.
Like to cook? bring a snack to share (sweet or savory) and get the chance to win a free private lesson or $50 gift card (minimum 3 entries for snack contest).

Price: Free for anyone who hasn't been to a Sapphire Dance Party
$10/general admission ~ Early registration is super helpful.

Prerequisite: While everyone is welcome, Socials are intended for those who have already taken a few lessons - Friday Beginner Workshops, Line Dance Classes, or private lessons. If you know at least a step or two in some dance style, you'll be able to pick up more at the party.
No one dances to all the music at a dance party, so don't worry if you don't know much. Watching can be fun and so can meeting other Sapphire students! The pre-dance lesson is beginner friendly and will include something shiny and cool.

Dive into Waltz
Basics of a not-so-simple Twinkle Waltz Deep Dive Workshop
Monday, November 10, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
We will be diving into what makes Waltz so elegant and romantic, and how to master all those rotations. Participants will learn and practice several moves, learn to use good Waltz technique in all of them, and get a short routine that can be used over and over again while social dancing.
Location: Sapphire Studio
Price: $21/person in-studio for one hour and a half workshop
$48/person in-studio for all 3 hour and a half workshops this month.

Registration by noon the day of the event required. We will accommodate late registrations when we can.
Prerequisite: Participants should be comfortable dancing slow Waltz, including several rotations and be able to dance the fundamental moves of Level 1 & 2 on command at several speeds (not Viennese Waltz Speeds - that's a different class).

Climb Higher, Dive Deeper
The next step to mastering Waltz Waltz Deep Dive Workshop
Monday, November 17, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Take the plunge and learn more, more, more Waltz. This workshop is still not a “high dive,” not intended to be super challenging, but will give you some more coolness to play with.
Location: Sapphire Studio
Price: $21/person in-studio for one hour and a half workshop
$48/person in-studio for all 3 hour and a half workshops this mont.

Registration by noon the day of the event required. We will accommodate late registrations when we can.
Prerequisite: Participants should know basic Waltz, about 7-10 moves including rotations, more than 2 partner positions, or have attended the previous workshop.

High Dive into Waltz

Take the plunge and learn more, more, more Waltz. This is it - as challenging as we're going to get in this series. You've trained for this; you're ready.
Location: Sapphire Studio
Price: $21/person in-studio for one hour and a half workshop
$48/person in-studio for all 3 Deep Dives this month.
Pay online and register at the same time at Sapphire's Square Store.
Registration by noon the day of the event required. We will accommodate late registrations when we can.
Prerequisite: Participants should either know 10-15 moves in Waltz (including multiple partner positions and rotations) or have attended the previous workshops.
