The lesson listing is updated about once a month, unless something unexpected happens. If you see less than a week's worth of several types of events, an update should be on its way.
Our typical schedule includes Friday Beginner Workshops, Line Dancing on 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, What's Next Classes and Workshops (not for beginners) on Mondays, and (seasonally) 4-Hour Group Classes on various week nights.

	I Just Want to Dance with You East Coast Swing Friday Beginner Workshop Friday, April 24, 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm Always wanted to learn to dance but didn't know where to start? Swing is your friend. Country, blues, rock, metal, pop, hip hop - they all have Swings! It works beautifully to such a large variety of music that we try to teach it to random people on the street. Missed last week? No problem! Each week we teach a 40-50 minute lesson, starting with the absolute basics in a fun, popular dance style. And then, finish off the hour with a little taste of another style that will be on the schedule later in the season. It makes an awesome #DateNight, #ParentsNightOut, or an evening of #FunWithFriends. Location: Sapphire Studio (downtown Christiansburg) and online Price: $9/person in-studio (online options available, contact us for details).     Pay online and register at the same time at Sapphire's Square Store.     Registration by noon the day of the event required. 	Exercises to Improve Balance Technique What's Next Workshop Monday, May 4, 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm This exercise class is specifically geared towards improving your balance while dancing. Of course, that also means improving your balance while standing and walking, which really can't be a bad thing. You will sweat; you may be sore; you will probably complain (we all do); but we keep coming back for more. Location: Sapphire Studio (downtown Christiansburg) and online Price: $14/person in-studio or $9/person online.     Pay online and register at the same time at Sapphire's Square Store.     Registration by noon the day of the event required. We will accommodate late registrations when we can. Prerequisite: No prerequisites in dance ability or fitness level - you just need to be willing to put the work into improving yourself as a dancer. 	Playing Favorites Afternoon Social Free for first-timers! (because we like you) Class-By-Request Afternoon Social Saturday, May 9, 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm Choosing a favorite song to dance to is tough, but we did it. Want to get to know your favorite teachers in a whole new way? Join us for an entire social of our favorite tunes. We’ll be starting the evening with a short, beginner friendly lesson. In what style? We won't know until the teachers have chosen their songs. I'm so excited - the suspense is killing me! Will there be a mixer mid-dance? Maybe, probably. We're working on it. Does it sound like we're making it up as we go? Yeah, kind of. But I promise you - we've done this before and the result is always querky, cool, and amazingly fun. So plan now to join fellow dancers, young, old, experienced, and shiny new for an evening of good food, nice people, great music, and incredible dancing. Like to cook? bring a snack to share (sweet or savory) and get the chance to win a free private lesson or $50 gift card (minimum 3 entries for snack contest). No experience or partner necessary – just bring your enthusiasm and your dancing shoes! Prerequisite: While everyone is welcome, Socials are intended for those who have already taken a few lessons - Friday Beginner Workshops, Line Dance Classes, or private lessons. If you know at least a step or two in any dance style, you'll be able to pick up more at the party. No one dances to all the music at a social, so don't worry if you don't know much. Watching can be fun and so can meeting other Sapphire students! The pre-dance lesson is beginner friendly and will include something shiny and cool. Read more about Class-By-Request. 	Historic Dance (in casual clothes) Historic Dance (English Country Dance) Workshop Tuesday, May 12, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm Join the English Country Dancers of the New River Valley Historic Dance Society as we laugh, dance, and enjoy each other's company while learning dance new to us, but old as the 13 Colonies. This is the dancing you find in Pride and Prejudice, that George Washington did on vacation, and that evolved into modern Contra and Square dancing. Beginners, groups, singles, and families are always welcome. Every dance will be taught by being broken down into simple components and cued while dancing. If you can walk, you can dance, and we'd love to have you join the set. Location: Sapphire Studio Price: This workshop is free, but a donation jar will be out during the dancing, if you feel like adding a couple of dollars. .     Pay online and register at the same time at Sapphire's Square Store.     Registration by noon the day of the event required.
