The lesson listing is updated about once a month, unless something unexpected happens. If you see less than a week's worth of several types of events, an update should be on its way.
Our typical schedule includes Friday Beginner Workshops, Line Dancing on 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, What's Next Classes and Workshops (not for beginners) on Mondays, and (seasonally) 4-Hour Group Classes on various week nights.

	You spin me right round, round, round Hustle Friday Beginner Workshop Friday, March 27, 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm Always wanted to learn to dance but didn't know where to start? Hustle is your friend. Country, blues, rock, metal, pop, hip hop - they all have Hustles! It works beautifully to such a large variety of music that we try to teach it to random people on the street. Hustle is the March/April installment in our Swinging Spring series. The next step is Triple Time Swing, followed by Carolina Shag. All of these dances are "Swing Styles" which means they share moves and concepts, making the next style easier to learn. Missed last week? No problem! Each week we teach a 40-50 minute lesson, starting with the absolute basics in a fun, popular dance style. And then, finish off the hour with a little taste of another style that will be on the schedule later in the season. It makes an awesome #DateNight, #ParentsNightOut, or an evening of #FunWithFriends. 	High Dive into Waltz Waltz and Viennese Waltz Deep Dive Workshop Monday, March 30, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm We will be diving into what makes Waltz so elegant and romantic, and how to master all those rotations. Participants will learn and practice several moves, learn to use good Waltz technique in all of them, and get a short routine that can be used over and over again while social dancing. Location: Sapphire Studio Price: $21/person in-studio for one hour and a half workshop $64/person in-studio for all 4 hour and a half workshops this month.     Pay online and register at the same time at Sapphire's Square Store.     Registration by noon the day of the event required. Prerequisite: Participants should be comfortable dancing slow Waltz, , about 7-10 moves including rotations, more than 2 partner positions, or have attended the previous workshop. 	Intermediate Line Dance When you're ready to level up Line Dance Line Dance Workshop Monday, April 6, 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm So you've danced around the walls a time or two and you're ready for more? Awesome. We'd love to have you! The dances taught on Monday nights tend to have a larger variety of figures, rhythms, and more complicated transitions than beginner line dances (taught on Tuesdays), so be prepared to battle wall-nesia and get your feet tangled on the path to LD success. But the result will be worth it, without doubt. 	Exercises to Improve Balance Technique What's Next Workshop Monday, April 6, 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm This exercise class is specifically geared towards improving your balance while dancing. Of course, that also means improving your balance while standing and walking, which really can't be a bad thing. You will sweat; you may be sore; you will probably complain (we all do); but we keep coming back for more. Combine awesome music with expert instruction and you've got a beginner-friendly workshop that will get you moving in no time. Each BLD workshop features an exciting combination of ultra beginner and slightly more challenging dances, giving you the chance to get your feet under you and then challenge yourself to do more. Easiest dances are taught at the beginning of the evening, more challenging dances towards the end, with a bit of social dancing and practice time in between. So, if you've never done this before, don't be late! 	Spring Fling Evening Social Free for first-timers! (because we like you) Fox Trot and so much more Evening Social Saturday, April 11, 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm The Season is upon us - flower are blooming and grass is growing. It's time for you to get hopping! We’ll be starting the evening with a short Fox Trot lesson. This dance is great for beginners and still exciting for advanced dancers. Will there be a mixer mid-dance? Maybe - we're working on it. So plan now to join fellow dancers, young, old, experienced, and shiny new for an evening of good food, nice people, great music, and incredible dancing. Like to cook? bring a snack to share (sweet or savory) and get the chance to win a free private lesson or $50 gift card (minimum 3 entries for snack contest). No experience or partner necessary – just bring your enthusiasm and your dancing shoes! 	Historic Dance (in casual clothes) Historic Dance (English Country Dance) Workshop Tuesday, April 14, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm Join the English Country Dancers of the New River Valley Historic Dance Society as we laugh, dance, and enjoy each other's company while learning dance new to us, but old as the 13 Colonies. This is the dancing you find in Pride and Prejudice, that George Washington did on vacation, and that evolved into modern Contra and Square dancing. Beginners, groups, singles, and families are always welcome. Every dance will be taught by being broken down into simple components and cued while dancing. If you can walk, you can dance, and we'd love to have you join the set.
