Group Lessons and Events
Visit our Square Store to pay online (and register at the same time) for classes and private lessons.
The lesson listing is updated about once a month, unless something unexpected happens. If you see less than a week's worth of several types of events, an update should be on its way.
Our typical schedule includes Friday Beginner Workshops, Line Dancing on 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, What's Next Classes and Workshops (not for beginners) on Mondays, and (seasonally) 4-Hour Group Classes in Blacksburg on week nights.

The last FBW of 2023 - We'll be back the first Friday of January! Bachata Friday Beginner Workshop
Friday, November 22, 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Haven't heard of Bachata? Well, it's a good friend of Salsa and Merengue. In fact, you can find those three clubbing together all over the place. While both Salsa and Merengue tend to be fast, Bachata is a nice medium - great for first-time dancers! With fun, tropical inspired music, it's a little vacation, no packing required.
Missed last week? No problem! Each week we teach a 40-50 minute lesson, starting with the absolute basics in a fun, popular dance style. And then, finish off the hour with a little taste of another style that will be on the schedule the later in the season.
It makes an awesome #DateNight, #ParentsNightOut, or an evening of #FunWithFriends.
Location: Sapphire Studio
Price: $9/person in-studio (online options available, contact us for details).

Registration by noon the day of the event required. We will accommodate late registrations when we can.
Prerequisite: None - this is just for beginners! Bachata is great for first-time-ever dancers.

Historic Dance (English Country Dance) Workshop
Tuesday, December 10, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Join the English Country Dancers of the New River Valley Historic Dance Society as we laugh, dance, and enjoy each other's company while learning dance new to us, but old as the 13 Colonies. This is the dancing you find in Pride and Prejudice, that George Washington did on vacation, and that evolved into modern Contra and Square dancing.
Beginners, groups, singles, and families are always welcome. Every dance will be taught by being broken down into simple components and cued while dancing. If you can walk, you can dance, and we'd love to have you join the set.
Location: Sapphire Studio
Price: This workshop is free, but a donation jar will be out during the dancing, if you feel like adding a couple of dollars. .

Registration by noon the day of the event required. We will accommodate late registrations when we can.
Prerequisite: None! Beginner and advanced dancers will find lots to love at this workshop.

Annual Cookie Exchange Salsa Dance Party

Dress festive & bring cookies to exchange with other dancers!
Or come in jeans and eat other people’s cookies - it’s all good. Whether you're here for the dancing, or the cookies, or the quirky Sapphire take on Holiday music, plan for a glorious evening of light-hearted fun beginning with a Single Time Swing Lesson. Will there be a mixer mid-dance? Ho-ho-Oh yeah. Ever heard of a snowball mixer? How could we pass it up!
Join fellow dancers, young, old, experienced, and shiny new for an evening of good food, good friends, good times, great music, and incredible dancing.
No food contest back at this dance because it's all about the sharing. That's a prize worth cooking for.

Prerequisite: While no one dances to all the music at a dance party, we suggest you be comfortable with at least a few styles. Otherwise, you might be watching more than dancing - way less fun. The pre-dance lesson begins beginner but progresses to intermediate.
