Hello my dancing friends. This is a quick update on the studio offerings in the next few weeks.
 All Day Line Dance with Lisa Utz - Saturday, August 10
As the headline says - we are planning a day of line dance with Lisa Utz: 3 workshops at different levels plus social dancing!
Lisa is the wonderful person responsible for starting our line dance program at Sapphire Ballroom. She is a fun and experienced teacher, an excellent dancer, and a published choreographer. We lost her to life changes and a move to the middle part of the state, but she's bringing her particular sense of fun and adventure back to Christiansburg for a day of dancing.
We've got three workshops planned, a dance party, and time to practice and goof off:

1:00 - Doors Open Visit, catch up, or warm up. Music will be playing and dancing will be happening.
1:30-2:30 - Challenging Line Dance
Participants should be up for an adventure - we might not master the dance, but we will try! You will need to be comfortable with common line dance figures, complex rhythms, fast turns, and multiple direction changes. This exciting workshop might leave our brains hurting, but our souls will be satisfied.
2:30-3:00 - Break Relax, practice, ask questions, or warm up if you're just arriving
3:00-4:00 - Improver/Not-total-beginner Line Dance
This is the "medium" workshop of the day. Improvers, high-achieving beginners, and truly advanced dancers will have fun and thrive here. Participants should be familiar with common line dance figures, multiple rhythms, and comfortable with direction changes.
4:00-4:30 - Break Relax, practice, ask questions, or warm up if you're just arriving
4:30-5:30 - Beginner-Friendly Line Dance
No experience required - this class is sure to be a blast: filled with fun music, lots of humor, and some good dances. Expect to learn 2 or 3 beginner-friendly line dances which will absolutely appear in the dance party later in the day.
5:30-7:00 - Food
Grab some food from one of our local restaurants and plan to come back for the Dance Party at 7:00pm. We have plenty of tables if you want to bring something in to eat with you.
Music will be playing between sessions for your enjoyment and practice.
Cost:
$15/person for a single workshops, at the door or in advance
$24/person for two workshops plus the dance party that night, advance purchase only (available through Thurs, Aug 8)

Several of you asked for Salsa - we've got Salsa for you!
These Friday Beginner Workshops will cover the Salsa basic and a couple of cool fundamental turns. The goal is to get you comfortable dancing at Salsa speed (fast!) and able to add variation by changing up your hands. Every week the workshop is stand-alone and each one is a bit different - you can come to as many as you want and avoid ones that don't fit your schedule. Every workshop will also provide a sneak peek at another dance style - class requests will help decide what it will be!

We've been hearing a lot of requests for West Coast, and it's time to make it happen. Because the Monday Schedule for the next two months is kind of wonky, we'll be sticking with WCS for both August and September and switching the Dive material for October (Bachata anyone?) .
Deep Dive workshops are 90 minutes of intense information. There is usually extra time to practice after the workshop - just ask the teacher ahead of time. You don't need to attend all the workshops, but they do each have prerequisites. These are not for beginners! Please check the schedule for specifics.
