It's the Holidays
It is that time of year, and also it's the song Holidays by Meghan Trainor and Earth, Wind & Fire.
We are putting together a routine to Holidays: simple, fun, and just a little campy (ok - maybe more than a little). The song is a lighthearted, inclusive celebration of all the holidays. And that's what we want this routine to be too! It will have 4 sections, of which you can learn 1, 2, 3, or all 4 parts.
The Solo section will be the easiest - everyone can do it no matter how much you have (or have not) danced before!
The Celebration section requires a small amount of previous experience with 4-count Hustle. If you can dance an entire song and are willing to practice, you can do it!
The Verse and Holidays sections both require a higher comfort level in 4ct Hustle. (More details below).
We're going to teach the dance in 4 workshops on Mondays Nov 28, Dec 5, Dec 12, & Dec 19. Each Monday evening workshop will cover at least one section, possibly two, with the last two focusing on how to make the sections fit together. We will hopefully be able to pull it all together well enough to perform at the December 16 Holiday Cookie Much (Happy Hour Practice Party) as well as video on Dec 19.
If you want to learn the routine and not perform - no troubles! We created this routine to be fun and still improve your technique and musicality in Hustle, as well as introducing you to a few new pattern variations. So even if you have no interest in being part of the performance or our video, it's still totally worth your time.
Location: Sapphire Studio (downtown Christiansburg)
Price: $14/person/workshop or $42/person/4-workshops
Pay online and register at the same time at Sapphire's Square Store.
Schedule:
Nov 28, 7-8pm - Verse and Holidays. Probably the hardest workshop and the best one to skip if you're not sure you have the prerequisites. The Verse and Holidays sections contain push turns, grapevines, a New York Walk, and multiple partner positions, but you don't need to know all those things already - just be at a point where you can learn them comfortably. Participants should be familiar with Closed, Cape, and Hammerlock positions in 4ct Hustle.
Dec 5, 7-8pm - Celebration and Solo.
The Solo section is for everyone - no experience required. The Celebration section requires some previous experience with 4-count Hustle: You should be able to dance entire songs at a moderate speed and be familiar with basic turns like Inside Turn, Belt Turn, etc.
Dec 12 & 19, 7-8pm - Review, Practice, & Assemble. Hopefully at this point you will already know the steps and just need practice, practice, practice. We'll answer questions, trouble-shoot, and decide if we're ready to perform in front of people (I have no doubt we will be awesome enough, but I'm willing to let the class decide).
Please let us know as soon as you can if you're interested and which weeks you would like to attend.

Sapphire's group classes and workshops are always small, low stress, and fun. They are a great way to meet other people who have also decided to learn to dance, as well as get to know our teaching staff. It doesn't take any long-term investment to get started, no special clothing or shoes - just something comfortable to wear and a sense of adventure. So, take the plunge and try it out.
All classes (in person or online) require registration by noon the day the class starts. We are happy to add late-comers if we can, but classes may be cancelled or rescheduled if registration is low.
Five ways to register, just choose one and we'll take care of the rest:
1 - reply to this email info@sapphiredance.com;
2 - give us a ring at 540-382-8782;
3 - talk to your favorite Sapphire Staff member;
4 - register and pay at the same time at our online store at SapphireBallroom.square.site;
