Happy “Back To School” Days! While September might mean adjusting to new schedules and new routines, we hope we can make it easy for you to add a little dancing to your month. Don’t forget to carve out some time to do something special for yourself!

We have, not one, but TWO free dance opportunities for you to give dancing a try this month. Also, we are going back in time to the 80’s for our Dance Party this month, and getting “classy” for upper level workshops. Looking ahead to October, we also are super excited to be welcoming Eddie and Adela from Charlottesville for some workshops to help all of us up our West Coast Swing game. So much to choose from, and that was just to name a few.

While the word “Fall” will annoy those of you who hate to see Summer go, others might find relief in the promise of cooler temperatures. It doesn’t matter how you feel about the season change, because a FREE night of dancing is always a good thing!

Sapphire’s Fall Sampler is an event devoted to letting you explore the upcoming group classes offered by Sapphire at the Blacksburg Community Center:
  * Learn a few moves in a couple of different styles.
  * See demonstrations of any style that we teach and you are curious about.
  * And get answers to any questions you have about our classes or dancing in general.

And if that wasn’t cool enough, we give you an $8 off coupon for any of this season’s 4 week-group classes just for walking in! Plus, if you decide on the spot that you want to sign up and pay, you automatically get $8 off that class, and get to keep the coupon to use later. So lots of discounts to be had!

We have several pieces of good news when it comes to dancing on Friday nights. For starters, did you know that we have workshops EVERY Friday (barring a few special events and holidays)? That they are ALWAYS beginner and NO experience or partner is necessary?

Additionally, Downtown Christiansburg Inc. is hosting a delicious and fun Food Truck Rodeo on Friday, September 21, from 5-10pm, https://www.facebook.com/events/1988267067851993/. It’s a great way to enjoy downtown and get some good food and drink at the same time.

And that brings us to the third piece of good news. That Friday night we are making our “Cheaper-Than-A-Movie” beginner workshop FREE! We know the Food Truck Rodeo crowds *might* deter some of you from trying to get to our studio, located in the heart of downtown, but come on out anyway….we still want to see our awesome Friday night crowd; eager to learn and have fun. And bonus: you can grab dinner before or after.

As you know, bringing in outside coaches several times a year helps to keep our dancing fresh and current as well as giving us extra inspiration to improve what we already have.

We are lucky to know and dance with Eddie Karoliussen and Adela Su-Karoliussen; they are what every dance group needs: active, enthusiastic, and skilled community-builders. And Sapphire is bringing them to our part of the state to teach and dance with us the afternoon of Saturday, October 20.

These two pillars of the Charlottesville West Coast Swing scene have an obvious passion for spreading the love of West Coast and building foundations of good dancing wherever they go. If you ever find yourself at one of their dances, you can be sure that you will be welcomed by them! Not only will you find them friendly and welcoming, they will knock your socks off with their knowledge and skill; skill gained from regularly competing at events and taking lessons themselves with the top international pros.
